Colonial Cases
Wallachia
The Times, 26 January 1856
Letters from Constantinople mention that Mr. Alison, Oriental attaché at the British Embassy there, had been despatched by Lord Stratford de Redcliffe on a special mission into Wallachia, to inquire into the true cause of the differences existing between Prince Stirbey and the English Consul in Bucharest. The mission is believed also to be in some degree connected with the approaching conferences for the regulation of the future administration of the Principalities, which will begin as soon as the Ambassadors of England and France have received their instructions.
