Our original sources are primarily contemporary newspapers and judges' notebooks. The latter appear here by the kind permission of the State Records of New South Wales.

Much of the time in this project is spent on selecting what to publish from the vast quantities of this original material, typing it and proofreading it. Typing and proofreading is often difficult, causing us to leave gaps in our published versions, or to note ambiguities as follows [??].

We have supplied examples of newspaper and notebook originals.
