Attorney General to R Scott Esq - Aborigines troublesome: 15 September 1826
[68]
Sydney 25th Sept 1826
Sir,
I have reported to His Excellency the Governor that I had received information from you that, in your opinion, the disturbances on the Hunter's River district are likely to continue - and that you are recently arrived from the spot.
You mentioned some other circumstances relative to the military being in an apparent difficulty and in activity - which I did not think it right to report, unless I should receive a written permission from yourself, that I could consider this latter communication [69] to be official. If I am entitled to view your general statements as not private ones I feel that I have a very unpleasant duty to perform.

I am Sir
Your Obedient Servant
