Sir
I am directed by the Marquis of Normanby to transmit to you the Copy of a Communication from the Committee of the Aborigines Protection Society urging that the natives in the Australian Colonies[2] [794] should be admitted to give evidence in the Courts of Law, and I am to request that you will State, for his Lordships information, whether in point of fact any objection has ever been made to admit the evidence of the aborigines in the Courts of New South Wales and if so, in what manner you [795] conceive that defect in the administration of Justice could be most properly remedied.
