Darlinghurst Court. - (Before his Honor Mr. Justice Stephen and a jury of four.)

Mr. Hanbury Davis, instructed by Mr. Gillespie, appeared for the plaintiff; and Mr. Coffey, instructed by Messrs. Bradley and Son, for the defendant. This was an action brought by Emma Louisa Singleton against Augustin James Kelly, to recover damages for breach of promise of marriage.

Mr. Davis opened the case, and counsel having then consulted together, the action was settled, the defendant consenting to a verdict for the plaintiff for £125, with taxed costs.

The jury, under his Honor's direction, returned a verdict for that amount.
