Colonial Cases
Newfoundland
The Cambrian, 10 June 1826
A duel was fought at St. John's, Newfoundland, on 30th March, between Captain Redkin, and Ensign Philpot, both of the veterans, when the latter was killed. They fired twice; the seconds in vain attempted to effect a reconciliation. Capt. Rudkin and the seconds were tried on a charge of murder, on the 16th of April, and found Not Guilty.
