THE PEKING GAZETTE

Translations of the later Qing gazettes appeared from time to time in other news sources, and full versions were translated in the North China Herald between 1872 and 1900. [See Chinese History: A Manual; Endymion Wilkinson, Harvard-Yenching 2000: section 50.80.1, page 965.]

Violent deaths or suicides resulting from invasion, war, or insurrection have not been included in the abstracts, although a few are given as examples; see Jan. 4th 1872.

The missing years will be added whenever they become available.
