John has lectured at Macquarie University since July 2002. He previously practised from July 1999 as a solicitor in the Technology, Communications and Intellectual Property law group in the Sydney office of Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
Prior to that, he worked as a law clerk with TMI Associates in Tokyo, Japan; as a consultant to the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations of Canada and organised a conference on Human Rights and International Business for the Canadian Centre for Foreign Policy Development.
John has coached two Macquarie University teams in the Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot Competition and in recent semesters has taught Revenue Law and LAW868 Electronic Commerce and the Law. Since joining the Macquarie University Division of Law, John has delivered guest lectures at:

• $20,000 auDA Foundation funding towards a PhD scholarship for an indigenous Australian to research into indigenous aspects of Internet Law
