Coursework Degrees
Introduction
The Division of Law offers Postgraduate Coursework Degrees through the Centre for Environmental Law and the Department of Business Law.
Postgraduate Law Programs include Master of Laws (LLM) in Law, Environmental Law and International Environmental Law for law graduates. And for non-law graduates a Master of Commercial Law and Master of Banking and Financial Regulation and Masters, Postgraduate Diplomas and Postgraduate Certificates in Environmental Law. All Programs are offered either as full-time study over a maximum of 1 year, or part-time study over 2-3 years.
The Postgraduate Law Programs are offered both by Distance mode and Internal mode, and offers two enrolment periods each year: Semester 1 – (late February commencement) - applications close late December of previous year; Semester 2 (late July commencement)- applications close late May. All applications must be made through UAC.
Double Degrees
The Master of International Trade and Commerce Law can also be combined with the Master of International Relations as a double degree and can be completed in 18 months of full-time study.
Distance Education
Distance programs are run through the Centre for Open Education whose principal role is to provide a primary point of contact between distance education students and the University. All our Distance programs are offered by external study and require attendance at two day on-campus sessions for each subject or unit taken. Under special circumstances exemption from a session may be sought, by applying to the unit convenor, prior to commencement of the unit.
International Students
Some of our Postgraduate Programs are offered to International students by full-time study only. All International students are required to apply through the International Office who will also advise on visa requirements and fees. Timetable and Study Guides
The Timetable for the external sessions and internal classes will be posted on the Division of Law Postgraduate website, together with the study guides for each unit. Transition Program and The Library
The Division of Law highly recommends that new postgraduate students attend the Workshops which are organsied by the Macquarie University Transition Team, for new Postgraduate students, to assist them with the transition to postgraduate study. The workshops provide useful information on Writing at the Postgraduate level and Library research skills in law. These workshops are usually held in the first few weeks of the semester.
