Department of Law
The Department of Law prepares undergraduate students for careers in legal areas, particularly for admission to legal practice in Australia and other common law countries. It also offers a range of postgraduate programs. Established in 1972 as Sydney's third law school, the Department of Law marked itself out by approaching the study of Law in an interdisciplinary way, and by a commitment to teaching law not only by on campus study but also by distance.
The Department of Law has a very strong undergraduate program leading to the award of the LL.B, which is accredited by the Supreme Court of New South Wales for legal practice. We teach the Court's required subjects, as well as a range of optional subjects. Our students undertake the LLB in a combined degree structure, with a degree in Arts, Science, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Applied Finance, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Media, Social Science, Commerce-Accounting, Commerce-Actuarial Studies, Commerce-Marketing, Arts-Psychology.
The Department of Law also offers the research degrees Ph.D, LL.M and MA (Law) across the full range of legal research.
