Kurt Deketelaere is Professor of Environmental, Energy
and Construction Law at the Faculty of Law of the University
of Leuven (Belgium) and Visiting Senior Fellow in EC
Law (2003-2006) at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies
of the University of London (UK).
In Leuven, he co-directs the Institute for Environmental
and Energy Law, the Center for Construction Law, the
THEMIS-School for Continuing Legal Education, the Office
for Foreign Postgraduate Legal Education and the Advanced
Master Program in Energy and Environmental Law.
Furthermore, he is also the editor of The International
Encyclopaedium of Environmental Law, The International
Encyclopaedium of Energy Law and the Comparative
Environmental Law & Policy Series; the associate
editor of the Journal of Energy & Natural Resources
Law and the European Environmental Law Review;
member of the Editorial Committee of the Yearbook
of European Environmental Law; and country reporter
for the Yearbook of European Environmental Law
and the Yearbook of International Environmental
Law.
Ever since his PhD (1995, on The Use of Fiscal
Instruments in EC Environmental Law & Policy),
he has been heavily involved in the field of environmental
tax law, and contributed to the Annual Environmental
Taxation Conferences in Cleveland, Vancouver and Woodstock.
He will be hosting the Sixth Annual Global Conference
on Environmental Taxation Issues in the year 2005 in
Leuven, Belgium.
