Thesis Title

Achieving the effectiveness of International Commercial Arbitration laws in the Gulf Arab Region through a comparative study of the rules of the Dubai International Financial Centre(DIFC), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Australia: Evaluating the Experience of Dubai

Thesis Overview

The area of my research is the effective governance of international commercial arbitration in Dubai. The UAE has introduced a leading arbitral institution namely the Dubai International Financial Centre. This institution has developed its arbitration rules in order to be competitive and play a major part in the field of international commercial arbitration as other world-class arbitral institutions. Considering this development in arbitration laws in the UAE necessitates examining the theoretical and implementation aspects of the new rules of the DIFC. Analysing these rules will lead to identify whether the new arbitration rules of the DIFC are effective. The outcomes on how effective are the arbitration rules of the DIFC will bring necessary knowledge to legal community and investors in regards to conducting business and arbitration in the UAE and the entire region.
