The IUCN Academy for Environmental Law was launched by the Commission on Environmental Law of the IUCN in November 2003. The Academy is a specialised consortium of scholarly and professional research organisations that brings together researchers with an interest in environmental law from more than 45 countries.
Each year a member institution of the Academy holds the Academy’s Annual Colloquium. The first colloquium was held in Shanghai, China in 2003 while in 2004 the Colloquium was held in Nairobi, Kenya. The Macquarie University Centre for Environmental Law (MU-CEL) is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 3rd Annual IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Colloquium from 10-15 July 2005.
The theme of the 2005 colloquium is “Biodiversity Conservation, Law and Livelihoods: Bridging the North-South Divide” and will include papers by speakers from all regions of the world.
