Professor Michael Jeffery will visit Yale University in early April to give a guest lecture to students at the University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies on the topic of forest certification. Michael has had a long involvement with forestry issues dating back to the late 1980s when he chaired the hearing panel for the Timber Management Class EA hearing before Ontario's Environmental Assessment Board. In recent months Professor Jeffery has been involved in forging a closer working relationship between the IUCN and the Forest Stewardship Council for the IUCN to provide expert advice on ways to implement the forest principles with particular emphasis on the impact of forest activities on Indigenous peoples.
