Professor Jeffery to address students at the University of Ottawa and meet with UNEP and UNDP officials at the UN in NYC in early April.
Professor Michael Jeffery will visit the University of Ottawa in early April 2005 to address international law students on developments in international environmental law as well as a research team working on a study of the precautionary principle for the Law Commission of Canada. Michael formerly served as an advisor to the Law Commission in the 1980s while Chair of the Environmental Assessment Board of Ontario.
The University of Ottawa will host the Secretariat for the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law under the direction of Professor Jamie Benidickson commencing later this year. This visit will provide an opportunity for Michael to brief Professor Benidickson and his colleagues on the preparations for the 3rd Academy Colloquium to be hosted by Macquarie University through its Centre for Environmental Law in July 2005.
Whilst overseas Michael will meet with officials of UNEP and the UNDP at UN headquarters in New York . Prior to returning to Sydney . Professor Jeffery will also meet with the legal counsel for the IFC and GEF in Washington DC and has meetings scheduled at Conservation International.
