Professor Michael Jeffery participates as speaker at EDO National Conference celebratin g its first 20 years.
Professor Jeffery joined Tim Stephens of Sydney University 's Centre for International and Global Law in a Conference workshop session held at the recently renovated Customs House on 13 May 2005 entitled International Law and the Environment. Michael's address reviewed the developments with respect to public participation, access to information and access to justice in the context of the Aarhus Convention. Towards the end of his presentation Michael also discussed the importance and necessity of intervenor funding in the public participation arena. Professor Jeffery currently serves as an elected member of the NSW EDO's Board of Management.
Keynote speakers at the well-attended conference included the NSW Attorney General and Minister of the Environment, the Hon. Bob Debus as well as Chief Judge Peter McLellan and Justice Nicola Pain of the NSW Land and Environment Court .
