MU-CEL affiliation with the University of Alicante, Spain
Professors Michael Jeffery and Donna Craig have been invited to return in June 2008, to teach in the University of Alicante’s Faculty of Law’s Environmental Law Masters program (MADAS). This follows an initial visit to the Alicante campus last year where a cooperative teaching and research relationship was established between the two institutions. This initiative strengthens MU-CEL’s existing affiliations with other Spanish speaking environmental law centres in Meso and South America. In particular, the University of Alicante, and the Metropolitan University of Mexico City have taken steps to encourage their respective PhD candidates to consider entering into cotutelle arrangements wherein part of their PhD studies can be completed under Mu-CEL supervision. At the present time MU-CEL has one PhD candidate under the supervision of Professor Jeffery and more Spanish speaking international students are enrolling in MU-CEL masters programs each year.
Both Donna and Michael have recently published articles in Spanish in “Revista Aranzadi de Derecho Ambienta”, a highly respected law journal published by Thompson, Aranzadi
